Hey Jerome! Just saw the video and I have a few questions. I'm 28 years old, 6'1 and about 185 lbs. I'm an ectomorph and have always been pretty skinny. Over the past couple years I haven't worked out as much as I should have and have kinda gained a belly. Now I'm very into it and wanting a better body. I started lifting with cinder blocks as I do not have any weights right now, on a budget, and also do lots of calisthenics. What should I do for gaining muscle and burning fat at the same time?
Eat around maintenance level (so what you need to stay on the same weight) and combine that with trying to build muscle mass. Cinder blocks would be useful for your shoulders as those are a bit more difficult to target with body weight training. For the rest you could go for calisthenics all the way. Adding some of the blocks to make dips, pull ups or push ups harder would be a great idea. For more info on gaining muscle mass and weight loss you should go to my website and read those sections!
Hi Jerome, Im an ectomorph awhile ago I told you how I hit 170 from 150 (6.2) and asked you why I seemed to plateau at 170. You suggested I wasnt adjusting my diet for my larger frame and probably more importantly I wasn't drinking enough. I adjusted my diet and try to drink at least a gallon of water a day (8 bottles right?) I'm now 185 so thanks. However I'm approaching my goal of 190-195. So where do I go from there? Cut back on carbs? start up cardio? Do high reps instead of low heavy ones?
So if I get your message correctly you still want to gain muscle mass, right? If that's the case do what you've done so far. If you again hit a plateau you should use the same tips I gave you back then. If your calorie intake isn't high enough for your needs you should once again lower it. If 190-195 is enough for you, then that's it. I would try to cut down a bit of fat if that's what you want. There is no need to cut carbs or do cardio. You can stop adding more weights or intensity.your spot on with the info less is best ;) high calories plenty of sleep its working ;) with a few tweaks.

By the way, insanity workouts are too intense for 'ectomorphs' I think. Rather focus on mass building workouts with 8 - 12 reps, not too many exercises and not too many sets. Use a heavy weight though!
Weird?? Lol, you could see lada pridal body transformation from chopstick to buff only with street workout / calisthenics, nothing is impossible man as long as your hit the muscle hypertrophy to make sure it grows! Higher reps of exercise make it grows or use weighted vest..

You probably need to increase your calorie intake. Do you drink enough? If you start to be hungry before you need to eat again your calorie intake might be too low. However, hunger can be a result of not drinking enough. Giving your plateau of not gaining more weight I assume you haven't been adjusting your calorie intake to your higher body weight.
I have been in the gym for a month now and what I have noticed is that I don't feel my muscles when I do compound movements while it burns like crazy when I do isolated movements. Does it matter if you don't feel that burning sensation?.
It doesn't really have to feel like a burning sensation. However, if you feel the exercises don't do anything for you (so if the don't make you grow) then you should be very critical about the form you use. Try to use a squeezing action when you are on top of the movement (so squeeze when you are performing the squat and push yourself back up and squeeze when you are doing the upward motion with the bench press.

I'm about 140 lb. and I still have a flab on my lower ab. I've been doing a lot of cardio and weight training workout just to lose that part. The rest, I can handle it. However, the part to gain muscle is difficult because I've been eating lean meat almost everyday. I also eat those greek yogurt that has fat free with high protein along with the 3% carbs. I know I am going on the right path and you are my motivation, or should I say, one of my favorite personal fitness guy.That flab on the lower PART of your abs (not lower abs) is because your body fat is still 'too high'. To get the fat to go away from that area your body fat needs to be very low first. As you know (or should know) by now, you can not do something like spot fat removal. It will come down to a lot of patience, discipline and time to lose those last few pounds of fat in order to get the fat to go away in that area.He's totally right. Especially about giving your body time to rest between work outs, the building takes place during this healing time so get rest. Sleep also plays a big factor, 7-8 hours per night at least. Hey man i have really small calves which is unsightly but its genetic and my gym doesnt hav calf machines. I hav only 5kg dumbells at home and dont know how my stubborn calves can grow big. Any solutions would be nice thanks!!
5 KG is not going to do a lot, so I really would recommend something heavier. Try one legged calf raises with very strict and slow form. Use the dumbbells to add a little bit of weight. Filling a back pack with books and putting that on your back as well as holding the dumbbells gives you even more weight!
Would you say rule #5 applies more to lifting weights? I've 2+hour workouts working the same muscle 2-3x per week with calisthenics leads to greater strength and muscle gains than shorter workouts once a week. How long are carbs stored and ready to be used to burn? Are muscles broken down for energy once you've burnt through carbs?
Fat is the energy reserve and will be burned up before muscle mass. 2+ hour workouts are not good if you ask me. I would cut them in half and spread them over the day instead!

It could be enough if your other activity levels are low. Besides that doing full body routines might not be effective when you are actually lifting heavy. A 3 - 4 days split (either upper body / lower body or upper and lower body combined) would be better, especially if you're more advanced and are going to lift more weight.
